About Us
Our School
Alice Springs School of the Air is a distance education school offering a wide range of educational services and activities to isolated school children, from Preschool to Year 9, in Central Australia.
We are a public school and operate for 40 weeks of the year following the same school calendar as other Government schools in the Northern Territory, sharing the same term and holiday schedule.
Many of our students live on cattle stations but they also come from Indigenous communities, camel farms, national parks, mining camps, road houses, remote police stations and tourist ventures. We also enrol overseas based students and NT residents who are travelling around Australia. Some students complete all of their schooling through distance education, and we even have children and grandchildren of ASSOA Alumni.
Our Vision:
Inspiring isolated students to recognise and realise their potential.
Our Mission:
We educate isolated and diverse students to recognise and realise their potential through world-leading educational approaches:

We value diversity and the benefits that different perspectives and experiences bring to our work.
We encourage reflective and open dialogue that is timely and constructive.
We collaborate to promote innovation and solutions-focussed thinking.
We continually evaluate our impact to improve student outcomes.
We learn and improve through practice and persistence, by risk-taking, mistake-making and embracing the challenge.
